Preschool

At Chatterbox we aim to make each child’s educational experiences positive and meaningful. We know that children learn best in a welcoming, warm, secure and caring environment, where they are able to experiment and have fun, take risks, and learn from their experiences and grow in confidence. The unique character and individuality of each child is emphasised and valued.

Time is set aside daily for the children to work in small groups. This time is for a more structured approach to learning. Phonics, counting, basic math’s, circle time, and show and tell are some of the activities that are included in your child’s day.

Our chef cooks and prepares fresh meals daily for breakfast, lunch and tea. We cater for individual dietary needs and preferences. Snacks, milk and water are provided throughout the day.

Through adult-led activities we can introduce children to new ideas, provide opportunities for them to develop their skills and ensure that they experience all areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Activities focus on the seven areas of learning and are run multiple times throughout the day for all children to participate in.

Each child’s toileting needs are different within Preschool. Preschool has changing facilities for those children in nappies, potties for children who are beginning to start toilet training and multiple toilets for those children who are fully toilet trained. Children will only begin toilet training when they are ready and when Chatterbox has been instructed to by the parents.

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. The EYFS allows children to learn by playing and exploring, being active and through creative and critical thinking which takes place both indoors and outside. This means your child will be learning skills, acquiring new knowledge and demonstrating their understanding through 7 areas of learning and development.

Starting school is a huge step in a child’s life. At Chatterbox we aim to equip your child with the skills and readiness to start school confident and happy. In the months prior to starting school children take part in activities such as answering the register, putting on their own clothes, coats and shoes and writing their name.
